Turkey to grant $21M to Kyrgyzstan
Turkey will allocate for Kyrgyzstan $21 million. The agreement was reached during a working visit of the first deputy head of the interim government Almazbek Atambayev in Turkey last week.
According to the press-center of the IG KR, the Prime Minister of Turkey Redjep Erdogan confirmed readiness of Turkish government at assignment assistance to Kyrgyzstan in such responsible and troublesome time of the country germination.
“The Republic of Turkey will provide Kyrgyzstan with $21 million grant with a view to support efforts on country stabilization”, press-center quoting Redjep Erdogan as saying.
Almazbek Atambayev informed the official Ankara that new authorities of Kyrgyzstan require international support for stability of the region, especially in the period of elections. He also pleaded Turkey on rendering of assistance in activization of the Organization of the Islamic Conference role at stabilization of business environment in Kyrgyzstan by means of Islamic Development Bank activities
Mr. Atambayev noted the economy of Kyrgyzstan experiences tense times. Economic embargo that lasted one and half months negatively affected on the situation in the country. As he said the IG KR makes a point of trade and economic cooperation development and implementation of co-projects - primarily in the fields of transportation lanes, primary processing industries, agricultural sector, electric-power industry, science and engineering technology, food and light industry. Moreover, the Kyrgyz high-ranking official voiced one more request – on financial assistance in questions of present interest as a budgetary gap, referendum expenses as well as elections and ground work to winter season.
Almazbek Atambayev also met the President of Turkey Abdullah Gul.
